snowboarding upstate
What do I wear underneath my jacket and pants?

I’m planning a trip upstate (NY) to go snowboarding sometime in February. It’s my first time ever, I don’t even know exactly where I’m going to go.
I am hoping to get out today and start buying some stuff for the trip. Since it’s my first time I don’t have a clue on what I need to wear. Obviously the basics like snowboarding jacket, waterproof pants, good gloves, but what about underneath? Being dry is all well and good but what will keep me warm?
Thanks!
I feel like an idiot for asking this because it’s probably obvious to anyone other than me but are you supposed to wear regular clothes like a shirt and some pants underneath your snowboarding gear or just thermals? That’s basically where I was going with my question. Thanks again guys.

Get lots of layers. LOTS of layers – and just put them together, that’s your best bet. If its your first time your likely to fall quite a bit, so get good outer layers – all waterproof.

Goggles aren’t required if your going down basic slopes (green and blue).

Despite this, your best be is to go to a well renowned ski/snowboarding shop and tell them what you are doing. They will then recommend you what they think you need. Shops like these tend to only employ people who have had experience on the slopes because it improves customer confidence.

I live near a place called Xscape, a massive indoor ski slope, full with ski shops and stuff, so its easy to get the right gear. Look it up in google and you’ll see.

Also, try and find a slope, maybe a dry slope near you, where you can practice before you go on your trip. This will not only make you feel more confident, but will give you an upper hand to the rest of the group you are travelling with.
