snowmobile work

What type of rubber is used in snowmobile tracks?
I’m currently working on a project that involves rubber tracks but i want to know the exact material that the tracks are made of? i know it’s rubber but what type is it and does it have a specific manufacturing name?
any help would be good
thanks
My advice to you is to not try to ride with tracks made of simple rubber, because it’s susceptible to ripping apart when collide with hard objects like rocks hidden in a snow.
“Real” track have rubber matrix, while inside is reinforcement in form of carcase that may resemble to one visible in cross-section of an automobile tire.
For the standard drives, a two-ply nylon carcase is generally used, giving good performance and with good resistance to damage if it strikes hard objects hidden in the snow. These fabrics are generally akin to the P160 conveyor belting fabrics. For the racing sport machines, however, polyester warp fabrics, similar to EP 160 or 200 are used, as these, with the higher modulus, give better traction and response, albeit with the potential of greater damage on impact with a foreign body.
Modern snowmobiles however typically have tracks made of a Kevlar composite – material used for bulletproof vests.
Hardness of rubber matrix for snowmobile tracks vary from 40 (asphalt) to 80 (racing and mountain) Shore (durometer). However, optimal hardness depends of several factors. In short track trail sleds, a hard track is generally faster. Paddle thickness also affects paddle stiffness. A thicker and softer paddle can seem stiffer than a thinner paddle of higher durometer. A lot of snowmobile track users and buyers equate the “full block” or “straight across” paddle design with maximum performance in deeper snow. Testing and experience have shown that the staggered design offers considerably better performance than the full block design. The newer design, open center track, is even more promising.
