Beginner Snowboarding Tips?

I’m going snowboarding for my first time this weekend and I need to know the basics of it. I’ve skateboarded for over four years, so I don’t really need tips on stance, balance, turning, etc. The one thing I need to know is how to get on a lift. Yeah, I’m a total n00b, but I don’t want to get injured before I even get on the mountain (;_;). Otherwise, I just need little tips that should be helpful.

If you are wondering, I’m going to Mad River Mountain in Ohio.

Thanks a lot,
Jesse
I said tips and not “Take lessons >:(.” And that’s not what I hear.

Skateboarding and snowboarding are not cross-over sports. Pretty much every student I’ve has that say’s they can skateboard has been in the lower parts of my classes because they think they already know what to do. Balance is different, turning is different, stopping is different. Taking a lesson, even a half-day lesson is the best thing you can do. There’s many ways to go down a mountain on a snowboard, but only one of them will allow you to progress to trees, bumps, steeps, rails, and jumps. If you learn the right way first from a professional, then the rest of your boarding life will go much better.
