snowboarding first layer

I'm going snowboarding for the first time and wondering if my hiking jacket would be bad / acceptable / good?
I have no experience in snow either, but have many trips planned for the coming two years, so I am preparing to buy clothes I need more. This is a jacket of Gore-Tex ® two layers is the wind and water, the specifications are here http://www.berghaus.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=1410&Gear=3 I kept walking and Rhouteburn Milford Sound tracks New Zealand in April two years ago, as was found in the snow and warm and then only with my heat below.
The photo on the jacket seems to must serve if it is long enough – you want at least mid-thigh. Being able to cinch the waist helps prevent snow from creeping under jacket and soaks you. Its outer shell is largely to help keep dry, and this should do the trick. Purpose made snowboard jackets offer more pockets with large buttons for easy to use with bulky gloves, vents to avoid breaking a sweat, and closures on the wrist and waist. More expensive models are more isolated and less bulky (although for his first trip aboard a small filling is a good thing). Buy a good pair of gloves to keep hands warm and to lease or buy a bib ski or snowboard pants you have to keep her dry – who spend some time on it! Enjoy the journey!
