snowboarding drag lift

snowboarding – how to use a poma / button lift?
I’ve been trying relentlessly to try and work a poma/button lift whilst practising snowboarding in a snow dome. Everytime its utterly unsuccessful and embarassing and I end up walking up the hill so not to hold people up.
I hook it under my leg fine but then when it moves I just get spun around and fall off over and over again. What am I doing wrong? I am regular footed so do I have my left foot strapped in and my right free? Where should my weight distribution be? It just feels like I am stuck to the ground and the lift is just being dragged from under me.
Any help would be great! Thanks!
Just hold on to the bar/rope rather than put it under your legs, keep your leading foot in the bindings (so in your case the left foot), unstrap your right foot and place it firmly up against the inner side of the binding then distribute your weight backwards like you’re having a tug of war with the lift
