Snowboarding tips? Im going to learn to snowboard what should i know?
Brands, Tips, Clothes. Im moving to washington state in a few weeks. I skate now but want to get into snowboarding…TIPS…
(Sorry to hijack)
Joey, I thought you want to move your back leg to steer when you are going through pow (fishtailing)?
Back to the question:
-Work on linking turns more than anything, it is your lifeline.
-If you truly want to buy a board now (not recommended), save money with the end of the season sales
-Buy a Burton overcoat, they are cool and functional!
-Wear a helmet! Especially as a beginner, but I stopped using one when I was intermediate, although I am meaning to buy one
-Have ANTI-FOG goggles and a face mask (or bandana if you are hard-core =P)
-Look into reverse camber boards: they are making a comeback and work more like skateboarding with the trucks feeling (more down your alley)
-Do not be afraid to fall! Early on, you will not get hurt (unless you are not wearing wrist protectors), so just try to fall against the mountain and make your fall funny: laughter is the best medicine (or Tylenol)! I couldn’t link toe to heel side until I overcame my fear of falling on my face, but one morning, I watched a boarder my age link by me and I lost my fear of dragging for a second and copied him, tried it, and did it… CONFIDENCE IS EVERYTHING!
I will add more as I think of them! Good luck!
